WELCOME FROM THE CO-CHAIRS
Dear Colleagues,
We are delighted to welcome you to the Fragility Fracture Network European Congress, taking place in Edinburgh, UK, from 8–10 October 2026.
This year’s theme, “Royal Mile from Castle to Clinic: Innovations in Fragility Fracture Care,” reflects our collective commitment to advancing the care of fragility fractures through international collaboration, strengthened organisational strategies, leadership in orthogeriatric practice, and the dissemination of best clinical approaches.
As we gather to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and forge stronger partnerships, we hope this Congress will act as a catalyst for innovation and progress—further uniting a network of experts and building on the excellent work already underway across Europe and beyond.
Alongside the scientific programme, we also invite you to discover the rich history, cultural heritage, and vibrant atmosphere of Edinburgh, with its renowned architecture, culinary offerings, and warm hospitality.
We look forward to an inspiring and productive Congress together.
With best wishes,
Opinder Sahota and Alasdair Maclullich

WELCOME FFN PRESIDENT
Dear colleagues, friends, and partners,
It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I welcome you to the Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) European Congress 2026, which will take place in the historic and inspiring city of Edinburgh. This congress represents not only a gathering of knowledge, but also a gathering of hearts dedicated to improving the care, outcomes, and lives of people suffering from fragility fractures worldwide.
The challenges we face are immense: an aging population, rising rates of osteoporosis and fragility fractures, the urgent need for coordinated, multidisciplinary care, and policy change to support fragility fracture treatment. But they also present opportunities to advance science, strengthen health systems, and promote collaboration across borders and professions.
Edinburgh, with its rich history of medical innovation and its dynamic academic environment, provides the perfect setting for our congress. Together, we will explore innovative research, share best practices, and build a stronger network that unites clinicians, researchers, policy makers, and patient advocates.
I warmly invite you to contribute, to learn, and to be inspired. Your active participation is what makes FFN such a unique and impactful community. Let us work together to drive change so that all patients around the world have access to the highest standards of fracture care.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh in 2026.
With best wishes,
Takeshi Sawaguchi
President, FFN
